Philanthropy is a key initiative for Ohio HealthCare Federal Credit Union. As a credit union that serves those in the healthcare industry, we find it important to find ways to support individuals and charities in healthcare and sometimes beyond. The credit union has contributed $15,780 in charitable aid and donations year-to-date in 2010. And we will continue our philanthropic efforts through the remainder of 2010 and beyond.
OHCFCU has contributed $9,180 to Nationwide Children's Hospital as a result of our statewide event, Marching Miles for Miracle Kids. (Read more below in our Marching Miles article).
OHCFCU has contributed $1,100 to the OhioHealth Foundation through a revenue sharing program we have created with our ATMs.
OHCFCU provided $2,000 in scholarships to the Ohio Nurses Foundation for the use of continuing education in the nursing field.
OHCFCU has allocated $2,000 in scholarships for our Don O. Tootle/OHCFCU Scholarship Program for graduating high school seniors. Winners will be announced in May.
OHCFCU provided $1,000 in scholarships for the Nurturing the Nursing Profession (NNP) event to be held on May 2. One scholarship is intended for a nursing student at The Ohio State University and one is intended for a nursing student at Columbus State Community College.
OHCFCU contributed $500 to the CUAid fund to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Our 2010 Marching Miles for Miracle Kids event raised $110,000 for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals serving Ohio. Through employee and member involvement, OHCFCU contributed $9,180 to Marching Miles, of which 100% goes to our local children's hospital, Nationwide Children's. Our collective efforts placed our credit union second in fundraising among the 85 participating credit unions. In addition to the funds raised, our employees provided considerable leadership and coordination efforts to the overall program.
