Shopping for a new vehicle? Turn to your credit union for assistance.

Shopping for a new vehicle can be an overwhelming experience. They are so many choices...from the style of car, to options and colors, to new or used...it's enough to make your head spin. And it's difficult to know where to begin.

We recommend that you get preapproved for your financing first...before you even set foot on a car lot. Getting pre-approved provides lots of perks.

1. You know your spending limit. Our loan officers can help you determine what you can afford...overall and based on monthly payment. This will assist you in your negotiations at the car dealership.

2. Should any red flags arise on your credit report, our loan officers can discuss them with you. If some errors are reported, you have the opportunity to dispute them with the credit bureaus. It's important to review your credit report occasionally to be sure you are not a victim of identity theft.

3. You can take advantage of our low auto loan rates!

Get pre-approved today by speaking with a loan officer at
866-254-4791.

Make Sure Your ATM/Debit Card Works the Way You Want it To!

Overdraft Privilege Pay allows a payment to be made even if you don't have enough money in your account. OHCFCU extends Overdraft Privilege Pay automatically to eligible accounts to help cover checks, automatic withdrawals, ATM transactions, and everyday Debit Card purchases.

Due to some regulatory changes, it will soon be necessary for you to notify the credit union about whether or not you want us to cover your ATM transactions or everyday Debit Card purchases with Overdraft Privilege Pay.

If you want your ATM or Debit Card to work as it always has, you should choose to "opt in". If you do not want us to cover ATM transactions or everday Debit Card purchases if you DO NOT have the money in your account to cover them, you should choose to "opt out".

Beginning June 1, 2010 you will have the opportunity to tell us if you would like to opt in or opt out. At that time you may complete a form online, call us at 866-254-4791, or visit one of our branches to notify us of your preference.

Getting Married? Tips for Planning a Frugal Wedding

All women can admit it...the perfect wedding (and, of course, perfect man) is something we dream about throughout our lives. But, unfortunately the wedding lasts one day...and the debt we incur can last years! So, wouldn't it be best to plan a frugal, yet beautiful, wedding...and then have the ability to start saving for that perfect home, perfect car, and perfect school funds for those perfect children?

Here are some tips to help you plan a frugal wedding.

1. Don't simply go to a bridal boutique. Believe it or not, you may find your dream dress and bridesmaids dresses at a consignment shop...maybe even with the tags still on them! Remember, you wear the dress once! Or, you might check with family or friends that may have a wedding dress that they want to pass on to you. Lastly, if you do visit a boutique...ask them about routine sales that they conduct.

2. Negotiate discounts. Vendors will quote you a price, but that doesn't mean it's set in stone. They want your business!

3. Think strongly about your guest list. Is it necessary to invite everyone under the sun? The most important thing is to have family and close friends celebrating in this amazing day. Don't feel obligated to invite everyone you know. The number of guests substantially increases your costs.

4. Plan your wedding in off-peak season. You can save thousands!

5. Hold your ceremony and reception in one spot. It saves you on time and the expense of traveling from one place to the next in that expensive limo.

6. Order a small one or two-tiered cake for the cake cutting show, and serve a sheet cake to guests (hidden back in the kitchen).

The excitement of the day will overpower every little detail. So, don't dwell on lots of little additions to the day...focus on big picture. Those little additions can add lots of expense. Good luck and have fun!

Prepare Your Own TV Dinners

Rather than buying individual frozen dinners, prepare your own and save money. Cook a casserole or two, divide it up, put individual servings in storage containers, label, and pop in the freezer. You'll save cash and the food will taste MUCH better!
