Make Sure Your ATM/Debit Card Works the Way You Want it To!

Overdraft Privilege Pay allows a payment to be made even if you don't have enough money in your account. OHCFCU extends Overdraft Privilege Pay automatically to eligible accounts to help cover checks, automatic withdrawals, ATM transactions, and everyday Debit Card purchases.

Have you notified us about your preference? If not, you need to let us know whether or not you want us to cover your ATM transactions or everyday Debit Card purchases with Overdraft Privilege Pay.

If you want your ATM or Debit Card to work as it always has, you should choose to "opt in". If you do not want us to cover ATM transactions or everday Debit Card purchases if you DO NOT have the money in your account to cover them, you should choose to "opt out".

What You Should Know about Lawnmower Safety

Lawn mower accidents are responsible for thousands of emergency room visits each year.

To help you avoid lawn mowing injuries:

. Start the lawn mower outdoors, not in a garage or other enclosed area where carbon monoxide can collect.
. Wear long pants and non-skid, closed-toe leather footwear.
. Shut off the lawn mower and make sure the blade has stopped spinning before crossing gravel paths or roads and before trying to make adjustments.

Stay alert and exercise precaution to help keep lawn mowing safe and accident-free.

Eligible OHCFCU members can receive up to a 10% discount on their auto and homeowners insurance. To find out what Sentry can do for you, call Matt Dowds at 614-451-2321 for a free quote and to set up an appointment.

More and more financial experts agree that credit unions are offering some of the best deals for consumers in the marketplace. And because credit unions aren't caught in sub-prime lending crisis, they're still making loans when other financial institutions are becoming more conservative.

According to an article on The Motley Fool's website, "The service at a credit union is generally considered superior to that given by banks." Let's put a stop to some of the myths out there about credit unions.

Myth #1: No ATM's
Actually, OHCFCU and many other credit unions are on surcharge-free ATM networks, providing members access to free ATMs practically everywhere. OHCFCU belongs to the Alliance One ATM network and Co-Op network, providing over 30,000 surcharge-free ATM's nationwide.

Myth #2: No Branches
Credit unions have taken a large leap in this area since implementing the Shared Branching network. In fact, the Shared Branching network is now the fourth largest branch network in the country-beating out some multinational banks. Shared Branching enables members to visit other participating credit unions' tellers to perform transaction.for free .

Myth #3: No FDIC Insurance or Government Guarantee
This is simply not true.  Instead of FDIC insurance, credit union savings accounts are insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) which is also a government agency. NCUA insures member savings for up to $250,000.  Some credit unions are privately-insured, but at OHCFCU, your money is backed by the federal government.

Myth #4: Don't Have a Full Range of Services
Credit unions are thought to lack a full array of services, but many credit unions offer the same range as a bank. Credit unions can offer Auto Loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit, Mortgages, IRAs and Money Market Savings Accounts. And many times with better rates than banks too!  Plus, you'll find our fees to be MUCH lower than the banks.

Myth #5: Once I Leave my Job, I Have to Close my Account
Simply not true. Once you become a member, you can keep your membership for life. OHCFCU specifically serves professionals in the healthcare industry. But, we also serve your family!

Do you do all of your banking with OHCFCU? We think you should. You'll save money!
