Savings tips

1. Pay Yourself First.
When you receive your paycheck, put a portion in your savings account before you spend any more. Don't choose to just save what is left over...there is often little left!

2. Use Direct Deposit.
Ask your employer to automatically deduct a specific amount from each paycheck and deposit it into your credit union savings account.

3. Track Your Spending.
For two weeks, track EVERYTHING you spend money on. Keep receipts, write down the bills you pay, and make note of the cash and coins you spend. Take 2 hours at the end of that two weeks and take a hard look at where your money is going. Find places where you could be saving money instead.

4. Keep Paying Debts. To Yourself!
Most of us have debts to pay. credit cards, car payments, mortgages, student loans..When you finally pay them off, keep writing the checks each month.. to yourself! Instead of a car payment, make it a Me payment. Your savings will skyrocket!
